Bringing Water to Life Across Three Continents - Francois Marais brings a rare combination of artistic vision and hands-on expertise to complete outdoor living design. His journey began in South Africa, where he founded his first pool company straight out of high school. In those early days, he learned the craft from the ground up—literally digging pools by hand and mixing concrete on-site. This foundation instilled in him a deep understanding of every aspect of construction and an appreciation for the transformative power of water.

A Personal Mission

Francois has created an extensive portfolio of sophisticated aquatic features: lazy rivers, infinity edges, negative edges, caves, grottos, and custom slides. But it's the infinity edge that holds a special place in his heart. "Every feature either makes noise or lights up," he notes, "but if you build your pool correctly and design it right, the water itself blows your mind completely."

One of his most celebrated projects—an international award winner—was a 100,000-gallon residential pool in Cuero, Texas, featuring a faux rock cave with an integrated bathroom and jacuzzis, a 38-foot slide, a 75-foot infinity edge, and an island adorned with fire features. The cave alone, constructed from custom-carved faux rock rather than natural stone for structural reasons, featured seven fire features rising 14 feet above an 18-foot-deep pool.

Over his 25+ years building in America, Francois has completed an impressive 3,500 to 4,000 pool projects, along with countless complete outdoor living spaces. Yet what sets him apart isn't the quantity—it's his unwavering commitment to individuality. "I've never built the same pool twice," he explains. Each project begins with an in-depth consultation to understand the family's lifestyle, dreams, and vision. The result is a custom design that reflects their unique needs rather than a cookie-cutter template.
